Cirque du Soleil are back with a creepy crawly circus spectacular

Cirque du Soleil are back at the Royal Albert Hall with another super-lavish circus show. This time round, they’re celebrating the world of insects. Crews of quirky characters including ants, grasshoppers and spiders will perform routines that bring the world’s most populous species to life.

‘OVO’ has a carnival feel, with samba-tinged sounds and bustling spectacle. Expect aerial routines, foot-juggling, trampolining, and a bright and beautiful array of neon creepy crawly-inspired costumes. Oh, and are you baffled by the name ‘OVO’? Squint and it looks a bit like a bug’s head.

See Cirque du Soleil’s dazzling show Ovo as it makes its UK debut at the Royal Albert Hall, following international success and performances in front of more than 5 million people worldwide.

The cast of 50 hail from 17 countries and specialise in spectacular acrobatic acts. This includes London’s own Alanna Baker, crowned gymnastics European champion in 2011.

Taking its name from the Portuguese word for “egg”, Ovo’s story begins when an egg lands in the middle of a colourful ecosystem filled with insects who work, crawl, flutter, play and fight. The creatures are intrigued by this symbol that represents the cycle of their lives.

In the midst of this mystery, watch as a romance ensues between a gawky insect and the stunning ladybug he encounters as he arrives in this riotous community.
