Fashion is a popular style or practice, especially in clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup, hairstyle and body. Fashion is a distinctive and often constant trend in the style in which a person dresses. It is the prevailing styles in behaviour and the newest creations of textile designers. Because the more technical term costume is regularly linked to the term “fashion”, the use of the former has been relegated to special senses like fancy dress or masquerade wear, while “fashion” generally means clothing, including the study of it. Although aspects of fashion can be feminine or masculine, some trends are androgynous.
Fashion design is the art of application of design and aesthetics or natural beauty to clothing and accessories. Fashion design is influenced by cultural and social attitudes, and has varied over time and place. Fashion designers work in a number of ways in designing clothing and accessories such as bracelets and necklace. Because of the time required to bring a garment onto the market, designers must at times anticipate changes to consumer tastes.
Designers conduct research on fashion trends and interpret them for their audience. Their specific designs are used by manufacturers. This is the essence of a designer’s role; however, there is variation within this that is determined by the buying and merchandising approach, and product quality; for example, budget retailers will use inexpensive fabrics to interpret trends, but high-end retailers will ensure that the best available fabrics are used.
Fashion designers attempt to design clothes which are functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. They consider who is likely to wear a garment and the situations in which it will be worn. They have a wide range and combinations of materials to work with and a wide range of colors, patterns and styles to choose from. Though most clothing worn for everyday wear falls within a narrow range of conventional styles, unusual garments are usually sought for special occasions such as evening wear or party dresses.
A03 is based on interests in the borderline between male and female fashion.
Taking shapes and references from the 90s, mostly Fresh Prince of Bel Air, our collections are based of enhanced texture and shaded effects with raw lines played naively.
You may see A03 as a series character, Fresh Prince, playing with others expectations, helped by the playfull and vibrant colour palette.
A03 manages to create looks presented as a compilation of stylistic pieces with oversized proportions with the help of digital printing, screen printing and manufacture to disrupt the rhythm of consistency and create a bundle of energy.
My name is Oana Ancuta Briciu, and I am the designer and creator of A03, launched in 2014.
A03 is based on my interest in the borderline between male and female fashion. My characters are unconventional and not conforming to an ordinary type or pattern.
Playing with others expectations, helped by the playful and vibrant colour palette, I manage to create looks presented as a compilation of stylistic pieces with oversized proportions.
I use digital printing, screen printing and manufacture to disrupt the rhythm of consistency and create a bundle of energy.
I have studied fashion design at University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca and a MA in fashion strategy and costume design at the National University of Arts Bucharest.
I am also proud for taking these releated courses: styling, set design and costume design in Romania, draping at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, color theory and illustration at the European Institute of Design in Barcelona.
